NBA League Pass Has No Day Pass Option

NBA League pass is a risky purchase.  I was considering trying it out on my apple TV to watch some Knicks games here and there.  I read on some forums that people had problems getting it to work properly with their Apple TV 2 so I wanted to purchase a day pass to test it out.  They don’t offer that and they don’t offer any refunds.  See my chat with the agent below for more information.

CSR_Ian: Thank you for contacting NBA.com League Pass Broadband Support, my name is Ian, how may I help you today?

Chris: Hello, I am trying to figure out how to buy a 1 day (24 hour pass) for league pass. I want to test it on my apple TV 2 before paying the full price

CSR_Ian: I understand how this could be frustrating and I will be happy to assist you today.

CSR_Ian: We do not have any one day passes currently available. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Chris: what is the best way for me to be able to purchase something without purchasing the whole broadband subscription?

CSR_Ian: That is the only way that is available for purchase.

Chris: what is the refund policy? Say I buy a subscription and it doesn’t work. How can I cancel without paying full price?

CSR_Ian: The terms of service that you would agree to upon signing up, state there is a no refund policy.

Chris: so there really is no solution for me then correct?

CSR_Ian: I apologize, but we do not currently have any one day passes available. Our current subscriptions prices are for the half season offer.

Chris: is that the $65 offering?

CSR_Ian: Yes, the $59.00 and $89.00 pricing.

Chris: do you know if there will be any type of offering for the playoffs?

CSR_Ian: We do not have playoffs subscriptions.

If there were ever a word that basically means the opposite of love, it is selfishness. Unfortunately it is something that is ingrained into every person from birth. You can see it in the way young children act, and often in the way adults mistreat one another. Almost every sinful action ever committed can be traced back to a selfish motive. It is a trait we hate in other people but justify in ourselves.

Pure Religion

In recent months God has been stirring in my heart the words found in James 1:26-27.  “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”  I’ve been questioning why I am alive.  If anyone asked us why we were alive we might find ourselves saying “to love God and love people!”  But what does that really mean?  What does it really look like to love God passionately and love people unreservedly?  So more than asking why I am alive, I guess that I should be asking why I am not living my entire life in pursuit of this radical calling of love.  Love…

I don’t think I can bear going another day playing religious games.  Fear of man, performance, self-preservation, and self-exaltation just seem like nothing in the face of the privilege of extending the love of Christ to mankind.  I’m sure there are days when I will give into the pressures of “the grind” and live for myself.  But I want each day to be a radical step forward in living by the gospel and loving those who are in need.

Take a moment to think about offenses and judgments you’ve had towards others.  Aside from the fact that it makes love towards those people impossible, it’s just so self-centered isn’t it?  We recently worked through some offenses we had with some people who are very close to us.  It was all great and dandy to work it out, but as I look back I see how the center of it all was SELF.  Lord, help us to keep short accounts with our friends, family, and leaders.  For we can’t afford to live another day focused on self.

Not only do I have this great desire to love people more, but I want to know God so much more. Matthew 25:35-40 “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you w gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,  36  I was naked and you clothed me,  I was sick and you  visited me, a I was in prison and you came to me’  37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these d my brothers, you did it to me”

Wow. There isn’t much more I can say besides what God just said right there. What I will say is this; if loving God and loving our neighbor is truly our highest calling, then I want to cast off all that keeps me from doing that. If to love Christ more is to welcome a stranger in, then let my home become a safe haven. If to love Christ more is to visit a broken man in a prison, then let me into those prisons.

Christ church Kirkland is a community for those who want to grow!
I’ve been so blessed by my 7 years of attending Christ Church Kirkland. I’ve watched the Pastors and Elders and because of the level of humility they walk in, I trust them so much! Some people freak out when you say you trust your pastor becasue they have been burned so many times by bad church experiences. I’m genuinely feel bad for those that have had those experiences. But I believe trust is a huge component of being able to fully recieve what the Lord wants to do in your life through the local church. This doesn’t negate being mature and studying the word on your own or researching something you don’t understand or agree with. Also, I’ve had a very good experience with asking questions about things I didn’t understand or struggled to own for myself. The humilty of the Pastors and Elders allowed me to openly discuss those things and in the end helped to to clearly understand those things. www.cckirkland.org

I have marked you…You want to be a difference maker…There is something in your DNA that cannot accept status quo, business as usual, things the way they are. You will never fit in the box marked normal. Deep in your heart you know you are called to change things, and to rock the boat. You love God but hate religion. When you taste Him it only makes you hungry for more. You have God cravings. You crave His presence. You refuse to let the world around you shape or define you. When you dream it is about the impossible. When you see pain you feel called to heal it. When you face adversity you don’t fear, because you measure it against your God! You are dangerous to evil, because your life is not your own. To live is Christ and to die is gain…When others want to party, you want to pray. You will never fit in the typical society nitch because you are a reformer. You don’t live for fame, money, or riches. You would never lower your goal to be rich or famous because you are an Abraham, a Joshua, an Esther, a David, a Wilberforce, a Lincoln. Bullets don’t scare you mediocrity scares you! Losing your life doesn’t scare you, wasting it does! You’ve already died so you are free!

Can any situation possibly arise, in any circumstances, for which He is not adequate? Any pressure, promise, problem, responsibility or temptation for which the Lord Jesus Himself is not adequate? If He be truly God, there cannot be a single one!

When we ignore the prostituted child we actually lend our hand to their abuse.
When we ignore the widow and the orphan in their distress we actually add to their pain.
When we ignore the slave who remains captive then it’s us that is entrapping them.
When we forget the refuge then it is us who is displacing them.
When we chose not to help the poor and the needy then we actually rob them.

When we return to God, even if our sins were as great in number as all mankind’s put together, still God would not count them against us, but would have as much confidence in us as if we had never sinned.
